Yin yoga is a slow-paced practice that works deeply into our body with passive, longer-held poses incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine. Yin postures are passive postures, mainly done on the floor either seated or lying down. We move into each pose, then seek to relax into the posture for 3-5mins, allowing the body to soften and release naturally without pushing or straining. The practice allows us to restore health and well being by reducing stiffness, improving joint mobility by sending hydration to areas within. Encouraging deep relaxation and allowing time for reflection, it is a great way to reduce stress.
In our practice we move stagnated energy through our whole system, both physically and emotionally. This means sometimes, old thoughts, feelings and memories can be released during or after our Yin practice which can be freeing but sometimes come as surprise. Know that we are here to support and be present for you, to guide your experience and to support your yoga journey.
Our classes are kept small to ensure personalised attention and allow each person to practice according to their own ability and advance at their own rate.
