YTT: Teaching Pregnant Women
in General Yoga Classes
Have you ever experienced the uncomfortable feeling of not knowing what to do when a pregnant woman walks into your classroom?
Or felt unsure of how to support a regular student who becomes pregnant? You are not alone. Concern or fear when teaching yoga to a pregnant woman is a common problem for yoga teachers.
How do we accommodate pregnant women in a general yoga class without interrupting the flow and pace of the class for everyone else? And how do we simultaneously ensure the pregnant woman has a safe and useful practice?
This course will give you the confidence to safely and effectively, integrate a pregnant woman into your general yoga classes. You will also be able to advise a woman when a general yoga class may not be suitable during her pregnancy.
At the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
- Teach pregnant women with more confidence and integrate them safely into your general yoga classes.
- Offer pregnant women specific modifications to their practise.
- Discuss the hormonal and bodily changes that impact a yoga practise as pregnancy progresses.
- Discuss common problems that occur and how yoga can help.
- Identify women who should attend a dedicate pregnancy yoga class.

“Helen is a wealth of knowledge and her years of experience in Yoga, birthing and motherhood shines through her classes. I am beyond thankful to have found her course and see her passion first hand. I personally have loved the collaborations included with women in our community specialising in pregnancy, birthing, parenting and more. Each emphasising the importance of nurturing mothers and their babies during this unique and special time in their lives. Helens incredible teachings and ability to hold space for mothers is not only informative but inspiring. Together with her one on one mentoring throughout I have gained vital knowledge that has truly enriched my personal experience of my pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey that I will be forever grateful for. This course has been the community connection I was seeking not only as a Teacher but as a mother. I strongly recommend this course to any Yoga teachers working with women and mothers in the community that want to dive deeper and strengthen their teaching abilities and offerings.”
“I have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about yoga to support women in pregnancy, preparing for birth and postnatally with Helen. Her course is so much more than safe asana poses during these phases (which I have touched on in previous yoga training), it’s about the community connection, the journey of motherhood and the power of women when we come together to support each other. I really enjoyed the balance of practical and theory and bringing in external partners to share their philosophies and expertise in this broad and fascinating subject matter. Highly recommend if you’re seeking to grow your knowledge and skills as a yoga teacher and support women through this epic life journey.”
